
Dr Babatunde Fakunle – the current chair of Across Boundaries is a Physician and a health systems management consultant with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare sector. He has an MD from The University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and PG Diplomas in Public Health from the University of London and Health Systems Management from GIMI Israel. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (Faculty of Paediatrics) and the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (FISQua). He also has professional certifications in Project Management (PMP, PMDPro), Agile Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, and Healthcare Information and Management Systems. He is a lifelong learner who has completed executive programs and courses in healthcare analytics, health policy, and health sector reforms at prestigious institutions such as the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Harvard School of Public Health, Royal Tropical Institute, and the World Bank. He has published and presented several research works on various topics related to public health, health systems strengthening, and sustainable health financing.
Dr Fakunle has worked as a Pediatrician in public and private hospitals in Nigeria, and as a Regional Community Health Manager at Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited, overseeing community health issues in the West African Subregion. He has led and implemented several innovative and award-winning public health intervention programs that have improved the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for the communities. He is currently the President and Executive Director of the Centre for Sustainable Access to Health in Africa (CeSAHA), a social enterprise that supports the UN agenda on Universal Health Coverage and Poverty Alleviation in Africa. He is a member of several professional associations and a Rotarian.
